Program Overview


Graduate Diploma in Project Management

The Graduate Diploma in Project Management is a postgraduate course designed for current or potential project managers in industry. This course provides students with specialized project management principles and techniques, which can be applied to projects in various sectors, including administration, business, engineering and construction, and information technology.


Overview

The course is underpinned by the internationally recognized A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide). With strong industry connections, students have access to current work-based scenarios, combining for a practical, usable, and valued skill set. This qualification provides valuable recognition in the industry, and upon successful completion, students can gain entry to the Master of Project Management.


Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:


  1. Critically analyze and adapt advanced project management models and principles to design and evaluate solutions for complex scenarios.
  2. Conceptually map and implement comprehensive organizational and management frameworks that optimize strategic objectives.
  3. Devise and validate comprehensive project management plans to address complex organizational initiatives.
  4. Synthesize professional standards, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices to lead ethically sound and compliant project management initiatives.
  5. Interpret and critique advanced organizational theories and disseminate evidence-based recommendations, demonstrating project management leadership competencies.

Course Structure

To attain the Graduate Diploma in Project Management, students will be required to complete:


  • 72 credit points of Core studies
  • 24 credit points of Elective units

  • Fundamentals of Project Management (EPM6001, 12 credits)
  • Project Governance (EPM6002, 12 credits)
  • Project Management and People (EPM6004, 12 credits)
  • Project Management and Information Technology (EPM6005, 12 credits)
  • Project Risk Management (EPM6006, 12 credits)
  • Project Planning and Control (EPM6007, 12 credits)

Elective Units

Students must choose 24 credit points from the approved electives list, which includes:


  • Art and Practice of Leadership (BMO6050, 12 credits)
  • Work and Organisation Systems (BMO6506, 12 credits)
  • Managing Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BMO6622, 12 credits)
  • Project Construction Management (EPM6008, 12 credits)
  • Project Procurement Management (EPM6009, 12 credits)
  • Project Investment Analysis (EPM6010, 12 credits)
  • Project Stakeholder Management (EPM6011, 12 credits)

Entry Requirements

Applicants for this course will need to meet the entry criteria outlined below. If they dont meet the entry criteria, they may be able to gain entry by first completing a different course.


Admission Criteria

  • Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline
  • Completion of an Australian Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
  • IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)

Special Entry Programs

If applicants are from a disadvantaged or underrepresented social, economic, or cultural background, they may be eligible for one of the special admission programs.


Fees and Scholarships

As an international student, tuition fees are AU$19,100 per semester. There may be additional materials fees throughout the studies, depending on the chosen course, as well as an administrative fee as part of the course. Careers

The Graduate Diploma in Project Management course is endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM). After finishing the endorsed qualification and joining AIPM as an Associate or Member, students are entitled to automatic recognition for AIPMs Certified Practising Project Practitioner (CPPP). Project managers are employed across a huge variety of industries, including administration, business, construction, engineering, health services sector, information technology, public sector, and science.
