Master of Digital Media

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:


  1. Plan and execute substantial digital media projects, including visual and audio design elements, motion graphics, and animation, for a range of professional contexts.
  2. Propose and critique processes for digital media transformation.
  3. Analyse and interpret a range of data sources to assess and critically review projects and understand a context.
  4. Apply digital media industry project management processes with a high level of personal autonomy and accountability.

Industry Relevance

The course is informed by industry experts to help students understand and respond to the issues facing the industry. In the second year of study, students undertake a research project with both a practical and written component, with the option to link this to a known industry problem. Students can also gain sought-after business skills by embarking on a work placement or internship within the network of industry leaders.


Entry Requirements

To be considered for postgraduate study, applicants need to have specific academic qualifications. The entry criteria include:


  • Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
  • Completion of an Australian Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in a similar discipline.
  • IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking).

Course Structure

To attain the Master of Digital Media, students must complete 192 credit points, consisting of:


  • Option A: 156 credit points of Core Studies and 36 credit points of Elective Studies.
  • Option B: 168 credit points of Core Studies and 24 credit points of Elective Studies.
