Graduate Diploma in Construction Management
The Graduate Diploma in Construction Management is a postgraduate program designed to develop advanced practical skills in construction management, focusing on sustainable building practices and emerging technologies.
Overview
This one-year full-time program is part of a series of postgraduate courses aimed at preparing future leaders in building and civil engineering projects. Students will engage in case studies and practical exercises to learn how to plan projects from start to finish, considering factors such as risk, quality, safety, and cultural and environmental impact.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Exhibit advanced project management knowledge, including established theories and recent advancements, to ensure efficient, sustainable, and high-quality construction project completion
- Implement construction project management principles and practices in new or complex environments, incorporating innovative solutions and contemporary technologies
- Critically assess the sources and validity of information and use standardized processes for information management and storage that align with national codes and relevant standards of practice
- Advocate for cultural awareness, environmental and social responsibility, integration of First Nations Peoples' perspectives, and respect for diversity in all professional activities
- Exemplify professional integrity and leadership by collaborating effectively and ethically within multidisciplinary teams
Progress to a Master's Degree
This course is part of a suite of postgraduate courses in construction management. By studying an additional year towards the Master of Construction Management, students will gain substantial professional experience and have the opportunity to contribute advancements to their field by conducting original, data-focused research.
Focus on Environmental Sustainability
The construction industry must transition to green building practices to meet national and global sustainability targets. During their study, students will come to understand the barriers to sustainable construction in the infrastructure sector and the management and communication skills needed to overcome them.
Entry Requirements
To be considered for postgraduate study, applicants will need to have specific academic qualifications. We also consider non-academic research and work experience for our research candidates.
Entry Criteria
- Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
- Completion of an Australian Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
- Applicants without an undergraduate qualification may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate based on approved work experience
- IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking)

If applicants are from a disadvantaged or underrepresented social, economic, or cultural background, they may be eligible for one of our special admission programs.

Course Structure
To attain the Graduate Diploma in Construction Management, students will be required to complete 96 credit points of Core studies.
