Program Overview


Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) program is designed to help students understand why people think, feel, and behave in certain ways. This four-year program explores the professional practice of psychology, including cognitive, social, perceptual, physiological, intercultural, Indigenous, and abnormal psychologies.


Program Description

In the final year of study, students have the opportunity to learn about a specific area of interest when they undertake an advanced research project. The training is scientifically and ethically based to teach students about types of behavior, examine personality, and conduct formal personality assessments.


Program Structure

The program consists of 30 courses and 384 units, which can be completed in four years of full-time study or equivalent part-time study. The program is divided into three main areas:


  • Introductory courses (4 courses, 48 units)
  • Developing courses (6 courses, 72 units)
  • Graduate courses (14 courses, 192 units), including coursework (12 courses, 144 units) and a dissertation (2 courses, 48 units)

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) program is an APAC accredited four-year program in psychology, providing students with a highly recognized qualification. Upon completion, students can apply for further postgraduate study, such as a PhD or postgraduate coursework programs, which lead to general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).


Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements, which include:


  • Completion of a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades
  • Meeting the English language requirements
  • Achieving a minimum ATAR/Rank of 75.00
