The Master in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (Top-Up Degree) is a postgraduate program designed for individuals who have already completed a recognized Postgraduate Diploma in Family Therapy. This top-up degree provides students with the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to become qualified family and systemic therapists.
Program Overview
The program is offered on a part-time basis, with a duration of four semesters (60 ECTS). The mode of study is part-time evening, with some occasional daytime classes. The program aims to train students to learn and apply a range of therapeutic approaches based on systemic principles, with families, couples, and individuals.
Program Objectives
The program objectives include:
- Learning and applying a range of therapeutic approaches based on systemic principles
- Learning about models for conceptualizing presenting problems and specific skills for conducting systemic psychotherapy
- Learning the core topics and concepts in systemic thinking
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements include:
- A recognized Postgraduate Diploma in Family Therapy
- Satisfaction of the Board of Studies that the applicant has reached the academic standard required to follow the course with profit
- Demonstration of necessary aptitude and disposition to follow the course with profit, measured through:
- Role play and group discussion
- An extended personal interview conducted by a board appointed for the purpose
- Applicants who obtain less than 60% for the professional aptitude and disposition criterion shall automatically not be admitted into the course
Selection Criteria
When the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, applicants are selected according to the following criteria:
- Degree type and classification (20%)
- Work experience (10%)
- Reference letters (5%)
- Aptitude and disposition (65%)
Tuition Fees
The total tuition fees for non-EU applicants are Eur 13,400, payable in two installments: Eur 6,700 in Year 1 and Eur 6,700 in Year 2.

- Critically review a range of published research studies and reflect on the way research findings can be utilized in clinical work
