Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology (Gozo)

Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology aims to provide students with a general and detailed knowledge and understanding of crime and criminology. The program equips students with a knowledge and understanding of criminological theories and concepts, enabling them to understand the role of the courts, policing, and corrections in criminal justice.


Program Objectives

  • To provide students with a general and detailed knowledge and understanding of crime and criminology.
  • To equip students with a knowledge and understanding of criminological theories and concepts.
  • To enable students to understand the role of the courts, policing, and corrections in criminal justice.
  • To address issues in criminology, particularly the roles of class, sex, and race/ethnicity in criminal behavior and the social policy and correctional responses to it.
  • To provide students with a knowledge and understanding, and capacity to use qualitative and quantitative methods of social research and social investigation.
  • To teach students how to utilize the appropriate technology in criminology and criminal justice study and research.
  • To enable students to develop the ability to apply criminology theories, principles, and concepts to address real-life issues and situations in the criminal justice field.

Program Structure

The program is divided into five years, with each year comprising two semesters. The program requires students to complete a total of 180 ECTS credits.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the BA (Hons) in Criminology may find employment in the criminal justice system, private sector, or pursue further studies in the field. The program gives access to the M.A. in Probation Services and the M.A. in Criminology (by Research) offered by the Department of Criminology.

At the end of the program, students will have:
