Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies
Program Overview
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies is a three-year full-time undergraduate degree program that provides students with a comprehensive education in the built environment field. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to pursue a career in architecture, construction, and related fields.
Program Overview
The program covers a range of study units relevant to the professional disciplines of architecture, structural or civil engineering, spatial planning, management, environmental performance, and materials and construction technology. The course introduces a wide range of disciplines, allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific aptitudes and career ambitions.
Program Structure
The program is structured into three years, with each year comprising two semesters. The first year focuses on foundational studies, including history and theory, design workshops, and introductory courses in construction, mathematics, and building physics. The second year builds on the first year, with students taking compulsory and elective units in areas such as materials, structural design, and project management. The third year focuses on advanced studies, including design workshops, elective units, and a final project.

- Possess a vast array of knowledge on different building examples and design strategies
- Demonstrate an understanding of the theory and technique related to environmental design
- Apply theoretical knowledge to projects and building designs both locally and abroad
- Understand the contingent relationship between people, buildings, culture, and habitat
- Carry out research and write proficiently about an area related to the subject
Governance
This program of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019, and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Bachelor of Science and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Built Environment Studies under the auspices of the Faculty for the Built Environment.
