Program Overview


Master in Creativity and Innovation

The Master in Creativity and Innovation is an interdisciplinary programme that spans one in-person intensive week at the start of each semester, with the remaining lectures delivered through face-to-face classes and remote sessions.


Programme Overview

This postgraduate course is designed to expand students' perception, employ creative skills, develop ideas individually and within teams, sustain a creative climate, and manage innovation. It offers methods and processes that help identify opportunities and cultivate appropriate skills and attitudes. The programme promotes imaginative, flexible, and practical thought and action, improving the ability to respond practically and creatively to problems and opportunities.


Programme Structure

The programme is divided into two years.


  • Year 1 consists of a taught component, where students are required to register for all compulsory study-units and additional elective units to a total of 60 ECTS for the year.
  • Year 2 consists of a research component, where students must register for the compulsory dissertation unit worth 30 ECTS.

  • IOT5007: Foresight Techniques for Creativity and Innovation (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5019: Creative and Critical Thinking: Theory and Practice (10 ECTS)
  • IOT5029: Innovation in Organisations (5 ECTS)
  • IOT5033: Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5004: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods (6 ECTS)
  • IOT5028: Creativity, Innovation and New Digital Technologies (5 ECTS)
  • IOT5034: Strategic and Entrepreneurial Decision-Making (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5039: Integrating Creativity and Innovation in Marketing Concepts (6 ECTS)

Elective Units

The elective units include:


  • IOT5032: Leadership for Managing Change and Innovation (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5037: Innovation Adoption and Diffusion (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5038: Creativity and Innovation in the Cultural and Creative Industries (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5006: Strategic Innovative Design for Enhancing Business Performance (4 ECTS)
  • IOT5024: Creativity: Psychological Perspectives (4 ECTS)

Research Component

The research component consists of a compulsory dissertation unit:


  • IOT5031: Dissertation (30 ECTS)

Admission Requirements

Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor's degree from the University of Malta or an equivalent qualification obtained from any other recognized university.


Tuition Fees

The total tuition fee for non-EU applicants is Eur 10,800, payable in the first year.

As a holder of this master's programme, graduates will have an attractive CV and will be sought after by employers to contribute their original creativity and skills to the workplace and improve team dynamics. Access to further studies is available at the doctorate level.
