Program Overview

Master of Business Analytics

The University of Dayton's Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) program prepares students for careers in expanding fields, including healthcare, supply chain, logistics, e-commerce, financial services, sports, agTech, and industry 4.0 manufacturing. The flexible structure allows students to complete their studies in a minimum of four semesters, gaining the technical skills and practical experience needed to succeed in today's data-driven world. The program is offered online as well as on campus.

Program Overview

With businesses and governments increasingly relying on data to drive decisions, the need for skilled business analysts has never been greater. The curriculum explores every step of the data analysis and insight generation process, from collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data to communicating and getting buy-in on data-based business decisions in an organization.

Degree Information and Courses

The core curriculum comprises intensive analytics courses that teach the mathematical and programming skills needed to adapt to any analytics software. Other courses provide training in business intelligence, business problem definition, and communication of analysis results. The program culminates with a capstone project in which students consult with real business leaders to analyze their data and recommend a solution to a business problem they are facing.

Learn On Campus or Online

The program offers both on-campus and online MBAN experiences, allowing students to complete their degree in the manner that best suits them:

  • On-Campus Experience: Engage directly with faculty, peers, and industry experts, benefiting from networking opportunities, in-person mentoring, and access to workshops and career services.
  • Online Experience: Enjoy the same rigorous curriculum as the on-campus experience, but with the added convenience of remote learning, scheduled classes, virtual collaboration, and digital resources.

Program Highlights

  • Hands-On Learning: The flipped classroom model and problem-based learning in many courses immerse students in real-world scenarios, enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Capstone Projects: Students consult with business leaders to analyze data and provide actionable solutions, gaining invaluable experience.
  • Applied Learning: Case studies and structured interactions ensure students can apply concepts to real-world business environments.
  • STEM-Designated Program: The program is STEM-designated, providing a significant advantage for international students, who can apply for a 24-month extension on their Optional Practical Training (OPT), allowing them to work in the U.S. for up to three years after graduation.
  • Learn From Industry Experts: The MBAN faculty are experienced industry professionals who bring their expertise into the classroom, providing real-world insights and mentorship.
  • Flexibility and Convenience: The program offers both on-campus and online MBAN experiences, allowing students to complete their degree in the manner that best suits them.
