Discover Teacher Education

The University of Dayton is committed to helping students find the right fit through the Discover Program. As a member of the Discover Teacher Education program, students can explore each of the undergraduate majors offered in the Department of Teacher Education before finalizing a major while staying on track to graduate in four years.

Program Overview

During the first year, students will experience a two-semester sequence that will help them define their professional goals, while assessing their personal strengths and weaknesses as a future teacher. By the end of that first year, students will discover their ideal area of education and be on their way to their future as a teacher.

Program Information

The Discover Teacher Education program is a great way to move toward a four-year degree, even if students are:

  • undecided
  • deciding between multiple majors
  • not quite meeting the benchmarks for the major they applied to
  • in a major, but have decided it's not the right fit

In the Discover Teacher Education program, students will be able to explore all academic options at UD, including those in the School of Education and Health Sciences and our professional schools College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Engineering.

Holistic Advising

Our holistic advisors understand the curriculum for all majors at UD. They serve as the primary point of contact for Discover students for course registration, vocational major exploration, and other academic concerns. They work closely with the student's Flight Crew to provide intervention for students who are struggling.
