Program Overview

The Practical Pedagogy for Tertiary Vocational Education 1 is a continuing education program designed for Noroff Education vocational teachers. The program aims to further develop the teacher's competence in their role, enhancing their critical thinking, reflection, and confidence.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Documented Higher Education Entrance Qualification or equivalent prior learning and work experience.
  • At least 25 years of age in the year of admission, with no prior achievement of the Higher Education Entrance Qualification.
  • Relevant work experience:
    • Craft certificate or equivalent with at least two years of relevant work experience.
    • At least five years of relevant work experience, with up to two years replaceable by relevant unpaid work, education, organization work experience, or similar.
  • Adequate proficiency in English, documented by:
    • Subject English (140 hours per year) from a vocational upper secondary school program or equivalent, passed with a grade of 2 or better.
    • For non-Nordic language speakers, documentation of English language proficiency at a level corresponding to the Higher Education Entrance Qualification.

Special Admission Requirements

Applicants must be affiliated with Noroff School of Technology and Digital Media through an employment relationship, working on educational development, learning work, or counseling work for adults. This must be documented by an employer reference.

Aims

The program aims to develop the teacher's competence in tertiary vocational education, enhancing critical thinking, reflection, and confidence in their role.

The program covers the following topics:


  • Learning management in tertiary vocational education
  • Planning, implementing, and assessing learning work
  • Learning environment, differentiation, and adapted learning
  • Adult learning
  • Further development of own vocational teaching practice
  • Supervision and assessment
  • Change and development work

Program Structure

The program is a web-based, part-time course with a scope of 30 ECTS credits, taught over two semesters. The content is organized using the spiral approach, where learning tasks and topics build upon each other, emphasizing basic vocational teaching competence, critical reflection, and change and development competence.
