Public Health Nutrition Master's Program

The Public Health Nutrition program is a specialization within the Master's in Health Sciences, focusing on nutrition and nutrition policies with a public health perspective in an international context.

Admission Requirements

To apply for this program, applicants must have:

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 80 ECTS credits in food
  utrition sciences or public health, where at least 30 of the 80 ECTS credits must be in nutrition.
• An average grade of at least C (according to the ECTS grading scale) for their bachelor's degree.
• Proof of English proficiency.

Applicants are ranked based on the grade average of their bachelor's degree.

Program Cost

For students from the EU/EEA/EFTA, the only cost is the semester fee of approximately NOK 1,000, paid each semester. For students from countries outside the EU/EEA/EFTA, there are tuition fees in addition to the semester fee.

Program Content

The program develops knowledge and skills needed to assess and address diet and nutritional challenges among different population groups. It provides insight into health-promoting and preventive work, strategies for promoting healthy and sustainable diets, and key political actors and processes relating to food and nutrition.

How the Program is Taught

The first two semesters consist of theoretical courses in public health nutrition, research methods, and quality improvement. The third semester offers elective courses at OsloMet, exchange opportunities at partner institutions, or time towards the thesis.
