The skills and ideas learned in this certificate will help students excel as professionals in a variety of fields. Due to the certificate's intensive training in writing, close reading, and oral presentation, the program can serve as an honors-level preparation for law school or as leadership formation for business, engineering, and other fields across disciplines.
Hands-on Learning Opportunities
An integral component of each course is the practicum. In every course within the certificate's plan of study, students practice a core, transferable skill. Students receive mentorship in writing, public speaking, research presentation, civic discourse, and more.
Internships
Internships help students gain practical experience, build their resume, refine their skills, and cultivate contacts. The Rocket Career Center can help students track down job opportunities, and they may also be able to receive academic credit for their internship or job.
Research
The University of Toledo is known for its undergraduate research opportunities. Students can start as early as their freshman year and work with faculty who enjoy collaborating with students. The Office of Undergraduate Research can connect students to faculty mentors and projects, help them find funding, and help them present their research at conferences and other events.
Study Abroad
Students can travel, experience new cultures, and meet new people while earning college credit. The Education Abroad Office can help students find the perfect opportunity, and they can apply for grants, scholarships, and financial aid to help fund their study abroad experience.

Most new students don't pay full price, with 94% of new students receiving scholarships or other state and federal aid. The cost of tuition and fees varies by college, program, and other options.
Honors College
The Jesup Scott Honors College offers students the resources and opportunities needed to unlock their fullest potential. Honors students take unique Honors classes taught by dedicated Honors faculty and complete an Honors thesis or capstone project in their major, earning the Honors medallion at graduation within their normal program of study.
Benefits of Honors
The Honors College is a community of academically gifted students from all majors on campus. Students are challenged to think more deeply and broadly about what they learn, and they have access to special academic, cultural, and professional development opportunities. Honors students can also choose exclusive housing in the Honors Academic Village or President's Hall.
