Program Overview
PGA Golf Management Program
The PGA Golf Management program at the University of NebraskaLincoln offers two options for students interested in a career in the golf industry. Option one includes a built-in business minor, while option two includes a built-in Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management (HRTM) minor.
Description
The program provides students with a comprehensive education in all aspects of the golf industry, including golf operations, teaching, and club management. Students participate in classroom instruction, a player development program, and structured internship experiences. The program is one of 18 accredited PGA Golf Management University Programs in the country.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR), students must meet the following requirements:
- 4 units of English
- 4 units of mathematics
- 3 units of natural sciences
- 3 units of social sciences
- 2 units of world language
- A 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average or an ACT composite of 20 or higher
Program Requirements
The program requires students to complete a minimum of 120 semester hours of credit, including:
- Core requirements
- Specific major requirements
- Electives
- Internship credit rules
- Other requirements, such as participating in the Playing Ability Test and completing Level 3 of the PGA Golf Management Program
Core Requirements
The core requirements include:
- College Integrative Courses (3 hours)
- Mathematics and Statistics (5-6 hours)
- Communications (9 hours)
- Natural Sciences (8 hours)
- Economics (3 hours)
- ACE Requirement (9 hours)
Specific Major Requirements
The specific major requirements include:
- Additional Plant and/or Natural Sciences (8 hours)
- PGAM Courses (39 hours)
- Golf Operations Management Option or Club Management Option
Golf Operations Management Option
The Golf Operations Management Option requires students to complete:
- Food Service Management (9 hours)
- Business (18 hours)
- Electives (12 hours)
Club Management Option
The Club Management Option requires students to complete:
- Economics (3 hours)
- ACE Requirement (3 hours)
- Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management (18 hours)
- Electives (14 hours)
Internship Credit Rules
Students must complete 16 months of internships in at least three settings, following the eligible employment guidelines outlined in the PGA Constitution.
Other Requirements
Students must participate in the Playing Ability Test once in the first year and twice each succeeding year until the PAT is passed. Students must also complete Level 3 of the PGA Golf Management Program.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must complete all program requirements and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
