The ASI1304 Animal Management program is a comprehensive course that delves into current issues facing the livestock industry, including production trends, terminology, animal growth, structure, and selection, as well as breeds and development.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

• Outline the basic management of beef cattle, dairy cattle, poultry, swine, and sheep
• Describe how biological principles of animal production influence animal management decisions
• Study managerial problems and provide feasible solutions given specific resource limitations
• Explain how the principles of business, nutrition, reproduction, breeding, herd health, and marketing are interrelated within each livestock industry
