Program Overview

Introduction to the Master's Programme in Molecular Biology

The master's programme in Molecular Biology aims to provide students with profound expertise in the field of molecular biology, within a curriculum that has an internationally competitive orientation. Students learn to understand and analyse the chemical reactions in cells on a molecular level and in context. This way, they broaden their knowledge of the methods in molecular biology, and are then able to work on complex molecular and biomedical questions independently, using state-of-the-art large-scale equipment.

Programme Structure and Topics

The programme is structured into several modules, including:

  • MMB I. Fundamental Concepts of Molecular Biology (10 ECTS)
  • MMB II. Quantitative Biology (13 ECTS)
  • MMB III. Alternative Group of Compulsory Modules (30 ECTS), which includes specializations such as:
    • Molecular Machines: from Structure to Function (30 ECTS)
    • Cellular Architecture and Maintenance (30 ECTS)
    • Chromosome and RNA Biology (30 ECTS)
    • Stem Cells and Developmental Biology (30 ECTS)
    • Immunobiology (30 ECTS)
  • MMB IV. Additional Scientific Skills for Molecular Biologists (17 ECTS)
  • MMB V. Scientific Practice (20 ECTS)
