Master's degree in Religion in Europe

The Master's program in Religion in Europe is a new English-language program offered by the University of Vienna, in cooperation with the Evangelical-Theological Faculty and the Catholic-Theological Faculty. The program focuses on the ethical, aesthetic, and meaningful potentials of religion and religious communities in European societies, and aims to provide students with reflection, discourse, and action competencies in relation to religion-related social and political issues.

The program offers a deep understanding of European religious history, sociology of religion, and religious law. It enables individual specialization in areas such as "Religion and Text", "Religion, Ethics and Politics", "Religion and Society", and "Religion and Culture", and provides practical skills for analyzing and addressing religion-related challenges in pluralistic societies. The program is designed for graduates of a Bachelor's degree (of any kind) who want to professionally, voluntarily, or privately engage with the phenomenon of "religion" and expand their competencies in this area.
