Program Overview

Introduction to the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Scheme in Computing and AI

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Scheme in Computing and AI is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with a solid foundation in computing and artificial intelligence. The scheme leads to two possible degree awards: BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and BSc (Hons) in Enterprise Information Systems.

Programme Aims and Learning Outcomes

The programme aims to provide students with the flexibility to choose their degree in their first year of study. The BSc (Hons) in Computer Science aims to equip graduates with solid computing foundations, while the BSc (Hons) in Enterprise Information Systems aims to provide graduates with a good foundation in both business and technical skills.

Programme Characteristics

The programme offers rich study pathways, allowing students to take on a Minor study in other disciplines. It also features applied and practical learning, as well as experiential learning opportunities. Students can gain real-world work experience both locally and internationally, helping them develop a global awareness of technology and industry trends.

Computer Science - BSc (Hons)

The Computer Science program features a rich set of electives that cover real-life applications, such as data mining, multimedia, and game programming. Students can also apply to pursue a Minor study in any discipline.

Enterprise Information Systems - BSc (Hons)

The Enterprise Information Systems program offers a balanced curriculum that covers technology, management, and business. It emphasizes both computing techniques and software design and development skills in the business sector.

Recognition and Prospects

The programmes have been granted full accreditation by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). Graduates can become members of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Career Prospects

BSc (Hons) in Computer Science graduates can become programmers, system developers, software engineers, sales engineers, or webmasters. BSc (Hons) in Enterprise Information Systems graduates can take up technical positions as programmers, system analysts, system developers, software engineers, and system administrators.

Curriculum

All admitted students will embark on a Common Year One curriculum. Towards the end of year one, students can decide whether to continue with their initial choice or switch to another choice within the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences.

Options for Double Major

Students interested in expanding their studies beyond a single degree may apply for a Second Major from another department within the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences. The total credit requirements of a Double Major depend on the degree of commonality between the two majors.

Entrance Requirements and Subject Weightings

The University's General Entrance Requirements must be satisfied. Preferred subjects with the highest weighting for admission score calculation include English Language, Mathematics, and Biology.

Admission Score Calculation Mechanism

The admission score calculation mechanism considers a combination of entrance qualification score, Year One GPA, and interview performance.
