Programme Aims
The program aims to develop graduates with a global mindset, equipped to enter the professions of building surveying, general practice surveying, planning and development, property and facility management, and quantity surveying.
Programme Characteristics
- This is a professional degree program with global and practical perspectives.
- Students learn about economics, law, finance, and investment, management, and technology in the construction and real estate context.
- Problem identification, problem-solving, and decision-making are the focuses of the program.
- Students have close contact with the industry through guest lectures, company visits, and site visits.
- Practical training/internship (Work-Integrated Education) is a compulsory element of the curriculum.
- The Department maintains a mentorship scheme, matching students with senior figures in the construction and real estate industry.
- A student exchange program provides opportunities for students to study abroad for one academic semester at universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, Chinese Mainland, and elsewhere.
Programme Structure
- All admitted students embark on a Common Year One curriculum.
- Towards the end of Year One, students can decide whether to continue with their initial choice or switch to another choice within the Faculty.
- Those who wish to change to another choice need to join a competitive process through a ranking assessment, considering a combination of entrance qualification score, Year One GPA, and interview performance.

- General Practice Surveying (GP)
- Planning and Development (PD)
- Property and Facility Management (PFM)
- Quantity Surveying (QS)
Scholarships
To recognize high academic attainment, the Department grants entry scholarships to eligible students with outstanding HKDSE scores admitted via JUPAS.
