Master of Science in Aviation Engineering and Operations Management

The Master of Science in Aviation Engineering and Operations Management is a postgraduate program designed to provide advanced education and training for students who intend to upgrade their knowledge and/or pursue advanced careers in civil aviation engineering, operations, and management.


Programme Aims

The program aims to:


  • provide advanced education and training for students who intend to upgrade their knowledge and/or to pursue advanced careers in civil aviation engineering, operations, and management;
  • enable students to develop their competence to increase their competitiveness in the job market and become the backbone of the civil aviation industry;
  • enable students to obtain a good understanding and mastery of the most up-to-date advanced technologies in the areas of civil aviation engineering, operations, and management;
  • enable students to apply their learned knowledge and skills to solve problems encountered in practice.

AAE MSc Dissertation Scholarship

  • Amount of Scholarship: HK$60,000
  • Eligibility: Full-time MSc students who complete 7 taught subjects, including at least 6 AAE Core Subjects, and a Dissertation, and attain a cumulative GPA of not lower than 3.0.
  • Assessment Criteria: Academic achievements, professional qualifications, work experience, and interview performance.

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)

  • Eligibility: Hong Kong residents who have the right of abode or the right to land or to remain in Hong Kong without restriction.
  • Reimbursable Courses:
    • AAE5102: Operations Research, Resource Planning and Engineering Management in Aviation
    • AAE5103: Artificial Intelligence in the Aviation Industry
    • AAE5106: Flight Standards and Airworthiness
    • AAE5110: Air Transport Economics and Policy
    • AAE5111: Human Factors, Accident Prevention and Aviation Safety Risk Management
    • AAE5112: Airport Operations and Management

Hong Kong Aviation Scholarship Scheme (HKASS)

  • Objective: To encourage continuous professional enhancement for the aviation sector in Hong Kong.
  • Eligibility:
    • Have the right of abode, right to land, or have entered Hong Kong on One-way Permits.
    • Be registered students of the eligible programs.
    • Undertake to work in the aviation sector in Hong Kong for at least 12 consecutive calendar months within 3 calendar months upon successful completion of the eligible program.
  • Amount of Scholarship: Full scholarships to complete aviation-related degree or higher degree programs, capped at about HK$100,000 each.

Professional Training and Examination Refund Scheme (ProTERS)

  • Eligibility:
    • Be a HKSAR resident and lawfully employable in Hong Kong.
    • Be in full-time employment in aviation-related work in an organization operating in Hong Kong.
    • Have not been granted any other forms of government subsidy or financial assistance for the relevant pre-approved course/examination.
  • Pre-approved Courses:
    • Master of Science in Aviation Engineering (Aviation Operations and Management)/(Aeronautical Engineering)
    • Master of Science in Aviation Engineering and Operations Management
    • Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering
  • Refund Amount: 80% of the fees, subject to a maximum of HK$30,000.
