Introduction to the Fast-track Integrated BSc and MSc Degree Programme
The Fast-track Integrated Bachelors and Masters Degree Programme in BSc (Hons) Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science and Innovation is designed for high-caliber students. This programme allows students to take up to 9 credits of Taught Postgraduate (TPg) credits during their undergraduate studies, enabling them to expedite the completion of their Master's degree.

Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Programmes
- Undergraduate (Ug) Programme: BSc (Hons) in Optometry
- Taught Postgraduate (TPg) Programme: Master of Science in Vision Science and Innovation
Entry Path and Admission Requirements
- Year 1 Entry: Not applicable
- Year 4 Entry:
- Attained a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 3.30 or above at the end of Semester 2 of Year 3
- Recommended by the Programme Leader
Normal Study Duration
Students enrolled in the Fast-track programme can normally complete both Ug and TPg programmes in full-time mode within 6 years, with 5 years for the undergraduate programme and 1 year for the postgraduate programme.
Level 5 Masters Degree Subjects
Fast-track programme students can take up to 9 credits (30% of the credit requirement of the TPg curriculum) from the following Level 5 subjects within their Ug curriculum, which will count towards the TPg programme award.
Level 5 Subjects and Replacement of Original Ug Subjects
- SO5009 Contemporary Myopia Control and Management: 3 credits, replacing Free elective subjects (3 credits)
- SO5100 Research Project: 6 credits, replacing SO4039 Project (4 credits)
Maintaining Enrollment in the Fast-track Programme
Students are required to maintain a CGPA of 3.30 or above to stay on the Fast-track programme.
