Master of Science in Carbon Neutral Cities and Urban Sustainability

The Master of Science in Carbon Neutral Cities and Urban Sustainability is a postgraduate program designed to provide students with a broad view of the subject, cutting across traditional boundaries among architecture, construction, and management. The program focuses on technical, engineering, policy, and economic topics related to carbon neutrality, urban mobility, buildings, and sustainability.


Programme Aims

The program aims to equip students with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to design and assess urban sustainability and carbon-neutral/zero-energy buildings, communities, and cities.


Curriculum

The program is a mixed-mode program, allowing students to pursue their study either in a full-time or part-time mode. Students must complete 31 credits through two alternative approaches:


  • Approach A: 4 Compulsory Subjects + 3 Core Subjects + 3 Elective Subjects + 1 AIE Subject
  • Approach B: 4 Compulsory Subjects + 3 Core Subjects + 1 Dissertation + 1 AIE Subject

Entrance Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:


  • A Bachelor's degree with Honours relevant to construction, real estate, urban planning, architecture, environmental science, or equivalent qualifications
  • If the applicant is not a native speaker of English, they must fulfill the University's minimum English language requirement for admission purposes

Tuition Fee

The tuition fee for the program is HK$10,600 per credit for both local and non-local students.


Programme Structure

The program is designed to be completed in 1 year (full-time) or 2.5 years (part-time), with a mixed-mode study approach. Students must complete all compulsory subjects in their first year of study.
