The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and Applied Linguistics (BAEAL) is a four-year undergraduate program offered by the Department of English and Communication at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Program Characteristics
The program provides students with Work-Integrated Education (WIE) placement opportunities in Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas. Students can choose from various academic pathways, including a Major and a Minor, a Single-Discipline Major, Double Majors, or a Major with a Secondary Major.
Curriculum
The overall credit requirements for the BAEAL program are 123 credits, including 3 training credits of Work-Integrated Education. The curriculum consists of:
- General University Requirements (GUR) (27 credits)
- Major Study Core Subjects (30 credits)
- Major Study Elective Subjects (30 credits)
- Work-Integrated Education (WIE) (3 training credits)
Secondary Major Details
The option of a Secondary Major in AI and Data Analytics (AIDA) is available to students of the BA (Hons) in English and Applied Linguistics. Students who pursue this pathway will complete 78 academic credits for the Primary Major and 36 credits for the Secondary Major.
