Program Overview

Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics Fast-track Programme

Programme Overview

The LSGI fast-track programme is a cost-effective option for high-achieving students to complete both undergraduate and postgraduate studies at an accelerated pace. By integrating these programmes, the fast-track option creates a seamless educational experience that accelerates student progression.

Entry Path and Admission Requirements

  • Year 3 Entry
  • Attained a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 3.30 or above at the end of Semester Two of Year 2

Normal Study Duration

Students enrolled in the Fast-track programme can normally complete both Ug and TPg programmes in full-time mode within 5 years, which is 4 years for Ug + 1 year for TPg.

Level 5 Masters Degree Subjects

Fast-track programme students can take up to 30% (i.e., up to 9 credits) of the credit requirement of the TPg curriculum from the following Level 5 subjects within their Ug curriculum to replace an undergraduate subject, and these credits will count towards the TPg programme award.

  • LSGI535 Spatial Data Analysis and Mining | 3 credits | Replaces LSGI4244 Spatial Big Data Analytics | 3 credits
  • LSGI533 Satellite Positioning and Navigation | 3 credits | Replaces LSGI3322 Satellite Positioning Systems | 3 credits
  • LSGI536 Remote Sensing Image Processing | 3 credits | Replaces LSGI4220 Urban Remote Sensing | 3 credits
  • LSGI545 Urban Informatics | 3 credits | Replaces LSGI3214 Urban Informatics and City Planning | 3 credits
  • LSGI551 Dissertation | 9 credits | Replaces LSGI4502 Final Year Project / LSGI4503 Integrated Capstone Project | 6 credits
  • LSGI552 Project | 6 credits | Replaces LSGI4502 Final Year Project / LSGI4503 Integrated Capstone Project | 6 credits

Maintain Enrollment in the Fast-track Programme

Students are required to maintain a CGPA of 3.30 or above to stay on the Fast-track programme.

Programme Structure

The fast-track programme integrates the undergraduate (Ug) and taught postgraduate (TPg) programmes:

  • Undergraduate (Ug) Programme: BSc (Hons) in Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics
  • Taught Postgraduate (TPg) Programme: MSc in Geomatics

This integrated pathway is ideal for students aiming to leverage their land surveying and geomatics background in the rapidly evolving fields of geospatial technology and infrastructure development.
