Introduction to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Linguistics and Translation (Senior Year Admission)
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Linguistics and Translation (Senior Year Admission) is a program that requires the accumulation of a minimum of 60 academic credits plus 3 training credits. To qualify for the award, BALT top-up students must complete 9 GUR credits, 30 compulsory subject credits, plus another 21 elective credits and 3 training credits by taking CBS2400 Work Integrated Education (WIE).
Program Structure
General University Requirements (GUR)
The GUR components consist of:
- Cluster-Area Requirements (CAR) [6 credits]
- CAR (A) English Language with English Reading and Writing Requirements
- CAR (M) Chinese History and Culture
- Students are required to fulfil the English and Chinese Reading & Writing Requirements
- Service Learning [3 credits]
- Students can register any service learning subjects offered by LST or other departments of the University.
- 4 Essential Components of General Education E-Modules [Non-credit-bearing]
- Academic Integrity
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- National Education
- Language and Communication Requirements (LCR) [3-9 credits]
- Students not meeting the equivalent standard of the Undergraduate Degree LCR will be required to take the default LCR replacement subjects for BALT students, including:
- ENGL2000 English for Effective Communication
- ENGL2001 English for Professional Communication
- CBS2901 Chinese for Language Professionals
