Master of Science in Generative AI and the Humanities (MScGAH)
Introduction
The Master of Science in Generative AI and the Humanities (MScGAH) is a postgraduate program that responds to the growing demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between artificial intelligence (AI) and the humanities. This program aims to foster interdisciplinary excellence by combining knowledge of AI with knowledge of the humanities.
Programme Aims
The program aims to equip graduates with a holistic understanding of AI's impact on language, communication, the arts, and culture. By providing students with a comprehensive education that integrates technical AI skills with humanistic insights, the program seeks to nurture a new generation of interdisciplinary professionals capable of exploiting AI technologies to advance humanities-related studies and applications.
Characteristics
This is the first program in Hong Kong and the world to allow students to focus on generative AI within the context of the humanities. The unique interdisciplinary approach of the program draws on cutting-edge research insights into the humanities and AI.

Programme Structure
The program consists of two specialisms:
- MSc in Generative AI and the Humanities (Language and Communication)
- MSc in Generative AI and the Humanities (Arts and Culture)
Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to choose either full-time or part-time study upon application. Full-time students are required to complete a minimum of 9 credits per semester.
Exit Award
Students who complete 21 credits (15 compulsory credits and 6 elective credits) may be eligible for an exit award for the PgD in Generative AI and the Humanities (without a specialism).
