Program Overview


Master of Science in Business and Economics

The Master's program in Business and Economics is designed to deepen the knowledge of business and economics acquired during the Bachelor's program. The program focuses on the interface between business administration and economics, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of companies and markets.


Program Structure

The program is a mono-disciplinary study program with 90 ECTS credits, offered jointly by the Departments of Business Administration and Economics. Students can choose to concentrate on a specific area or opt for a broader selection of courses. The only requirement is that students must earn a minimum of 30 ECTS credits in each of the two fields.

Study Plan

The Master's program in Business and Economics consists of 90 ECTS credits and lasts three semesters. Students must earn at least 30 ECTS credits in business administration and 30 ECTS credits in economics. The program includes:


  1. Lectures and seminars in business administration and economics (70 ECTS credits)
  2. A Master's thesis in business administration or economics (20 ECTS credits)

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in business administration and a minor in economics, or a major in economics and a minor in business administration. The following Bachelor's courses must be completed successfully:


  • Accounting
  • Microeconomics I
  • Macroeconomics I
  • Quantitative methods in business administration I
  • Econometrics I
  • Strategic management
  • Introduction to game theory

Students with a foreign Bachelor's degree must also provide a GMAT test result. The required minimum score is specified in the study plan.


Language of Instruction

The language of instruction is 80% English and 20% German.
