Program Overview

Institut für Theaterwissenschaft

The Institute for Theater Studies is an integral part of the university's program, offering students a comprehensive education in theater and dance science.

Praktikum und Projekt

Practical experience is a crucial component of the program, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.

  • On the Bachelor's level, internships in cultural institutions can be credited as part of the elective area, provided that a certified proof of working hours and a written report are submitted. A maximum of 6 ECTS (150-180 hours of work) can be credited per project.
  • On the Master's level, an internship in a cultural institution is mandatory. The internship serves as an application of the competencies acquired during the study program and brings students into contact with their desired professional field. A certified proof of working hours and a written report are required for accreditation. A maximum of 6 ECTS (150-180 hours of work) can be credited per project.
  • On the Master's level, a self-contained project in the field of theater and/or dance is also mandatory. The project serves as an application of the competencies acquired during the study program and brings students into contact with their desired professional field. A project report is required for accreditation. A maximum of 6 ECTS (150-180 hours of work) can be credited per project.

Richtlinien für Praktika und Projekt

Guidelines for internships and projects are provided to ensure that students understand the requirements and procedures for accreditation.

Wie komme ich zu einem Praktikum?

Students are responsible for finding their own internship positions and should discuss their plans with a lecturer at the Institute for Theater Studies in advance.

  • The Institute for Theater Studies has a strong network in the Swiss theater landscape and informs its students about current offers on a regular basis.
  • Interested students should contact the cultural institution directly and arrange the internship details independently, taking into account the guidelines for internships.
  • Available internship positions are regularly posted on the Institute's Instagram page or under current news.

Wie komme ich zu einem Projekt?

Students are responsible for finding their own project topics and should discuss their plans with a lecturer at the Institute for Theater Studies in advance.

  • The projects should represent an independent engagement with a future area of work after completing the Master's program in theater and/or dance science.
  • Examples of projects include own directorial work, dramaturgy, production management, organization, curation of theater and/or dance projects, as well as mediation, media, publishing, journalistic, and scientific activities.
