Introduction to the CAS Hochschullehre Program

The CAS Hochschullehre program is designed to provide a comprehensive teaching and learning qualification, focusing on the competency profile of university teachers. The program is modular and offers participants the methodological competence to plan, implement, and quality-assure teaching, as well as to supervise and assess students.

The primary objective of the CAS Hochschullehre program is to enhance the quality of teaching and increase career opportunities for academic staff, both nationally and internationally.


Program Structure

The program is based on four principles: flexibility, practicality, networking, and action-oriented learning. It consists of six thematic modules, each requiring a minimum of two course days. The program offers 15 ECTS credits and can be completed within 1-3 years.

Admission and Tuition Fees

  • Admission: Persons with a teaching activity in the tertiary education sector or in continuing education are eligible for admission.
  • Tuition Fees: CHF 10,800 (external participants), free for University of Bern staff with a minimum employment rate of 25%
