The Modul Geschichtswissenschaft consists of several lectures and a literature list examination (self-study) in the Master's program. The required lectures must be completed before registering for the corresponding literature list. Registration is only possible in the following semester after attending the last lecture of a module.

- 1 lecture in the second semester
- 1 literature list Major/Mono (1000 pages) in the first semester
Master Minor (for students with a BA degree of 60 ECTS)
- 2 lectures in the semester
- 1 literature list Minor (600 pages) in the semester
Master Mono
- 2 lectures and 1 literature list Major/Mono (1000 pages) per subject focus (first and second semester)
Registration
Registration is done directly via KSL and is only possible for the literature lists that are activated. The registration deadlines are based on the registration and deregistration deadlines for courses and literature lists from the first semester of 2026 of the Historical Institute.
Prerequisites
To register for the literature list examination, the required lecture certificates must be available in the KSL profile. If the respective container has too few or too many lecture certificates, KSL will refuse registration for the literature list of the respective lecturer.
Registration Procedure for Literature List Examination
The registration procedure is two-stage:
- Selection of Lecturer: Registration in this step is done as a direct registration. Students register for the literature lists of a lecturer in the event type "Other events without dates."
- Registration for Literature List: Registration in this step is done as a space request. The registration for the literature list to be completed is done in the event type. Students can use the base number mentioned in the description under "Other events without dates."
Registration Confirmation
The definitive registration confirmation is only done at the end of the registration period and is dependent on the direct registration (see step one) being maintained until then. Students who only register for the event type module examination (step 2) and forget step 1 will fail with their space request at the end of the registration period.
Regular Deregistration
Deregistration from the examination is possible without giving reasons until March 10, 2026, in KSL in both event types. Students are required to deregister in both steps. After this date, deregistration is only possible with a written certificate.
Access to Literature List Texts on Ilias
Registration in the event type "Module Examination" grants students access to the Ilias course of the respective literature list, where the texts that can be made available are provided. If a registration fails at the end of the registration period, students lose access to the Ilias course.
Examination
Examination Session / Examination Procedure
Examinations take place in the last two weeks of the semester (May 18-29, 2026). Please note the examination dates specified on the literature lists and contact Andrea Häfeli if there are parts of the examination schedule that cannot be attended due to recognized reasons.
Non-Attendance / Deregistration after Deregistration Deadline
After March 10, 2026, deregistration is only possible with a written certificate. Recognized reasons for excuse are: illness, maternity, death in the immediate family, force majeure (especially failure of public transport), military service.
Repeating the Examination
Those who have not passed an examination are automatically registered for the repetition of the examination in the following semester. Deregistration in KSL is not permitted in such cases.
Literature Lists
Spring Semester 2026
