Bachelor

The Bachelor program in law is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of law.


Bachelor EinfŁhrungsstudium

The introductory study program for the Bachelor degree includes:


  • Leistungskontrollen (performance controls) in the subjects of Privatrecht I (Private Law I), Strafrecht I (Criminal Law I), and ÷ffentliches Recht I (Public Law I)
  • The performance controls are held after the second semester (in June) and consist of written exams (each 2 hours)
  • Registration for the performance controls is possible from the beginning of the spring semester via KSL
  • If the overall grade is not passed (average grade below 4.0 and more than one insufficient grade), a repetition is mandatory in August of the same year
  • The repetition includes all three partial exams, regardless of the grades of the first attempt

UngenŁgende Leistungskontrollen

The rules for insufficient performance controls are as follows:


  • A maximum of 1 insufficient grade is allowed with an overall average grade of 4.0 (Art. 12 Abs. 3 RSL RW vom 21.06.2007 mit ńnderungen bis 22.05.2014)

Wiederholungstermine

The repetition dates for the performance controls are as follows:


  • ÷ffentliches Recht I: Monday, August 18, 2025
  • Strafrecht I: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
  • Privatrecht I: Friday, August 22, 2025

Gesuche

Students who have not obtained the required qualification for admission to the Bachelor program in German and are not native German speakers can submit an application for an extension of the examination period (until the end of the withdrawal period). Applications must be addressed to Frau Sylvia Kilchenmann.

  • Applications for compensation for disadvantages must be submitted in writing (by letter or email) and must be justified with an official proof (e.g., detailed medical certificate). The application must be submitted each semester until the end of the withdrawal period.

Bachelor Hauptstudium

The main study program for the Bachelor degree includes:


  • Leistungskontrollen (performance controls) in various subjects
  • The performance controls are held in January and June
  • Registration for the performance controls is possible during the registration period specified by the Dean's Office
  • The Dean's Office does not accept late registrations for performance controls

Grundlagenfšcher

It is recommended to complete the basic subjects after the 3rd and 4th semesters (exams, each 2 hours). A possible repetition can be taken as early as one semester later.


Privatrecht II + III, Strafrecht II + III, ÷ffentliches Recht II + III und Wirtschaftsrecht 1 + 2

The Dean's Office recommends taking these exams only after attending all lectures and exercises (exams, each 5 hours or 4 hours for Wirtschaftsrecht).


  • If the regulatory requirements for obtaining the Bachelor degree are not met (average grade below 4.0 and more than 2 insufficient grades), the subjects with insufficient grades can be repeated once.
  • Under the condition that the initial regulatory requirements are still met, individual insufficient grades can be compensated.

The dates for the performance controls in the winter semester 2025 are as follows:

  • RŲmisches Recht I: Monday, January 5, 2026
  • Theor. Grundlagen I: Monday, January 5, 2026
  • Privatrecht II + III: Wednesday, January 7, 2026
  • Strafrecht II + III: Friday, January 9, 2026
  • Wirtschaftsrecht 1 + 2: Monday, January 12, 2026
  • ÷ffentliches Recht II + III: Wednesday, January 14, 2026

Wiederholungstermine

The repetition dates for the performance controls are as follows:


  • Only students who have achieved an insufficient grade in the first attempt or have a approved deferral application can register for the second attempt.
  • The exact dates for the repetition exams in the basic subjects can only be determined after the end of the deregistration period.
