Introduction to the Master of Advanced Studies in European and International Governance (MEIG) Programme

The MEIG Programme is designed for graduates and professionals from various backgrounds to enhance their skills and provide high-level scientific and interdisciplinary expertise in the field of European and International Governance.

Objectives

• Provide a deep understanding of the political, economic, social, and legal aspects of European and International Governance
• Acquire extended knowledge on the functioning of the United Nations, the European Union institutions, and specialized organizations based in Geneva
• Develop competencies to take over executive functions in national or international careers dealing with global issues

Audience

The programme is targeted at graduate and professional individuals with various backgrounds working or wishing to work in national and European administrations, international and non-governmental organizations, associations, and foundations dealing with international affairs.

Programme Structure

The MEIG Programme is structured into several modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of European and International Governance:

Module I - Architecture of the European Union and European Governance

• Description: In-depth analysis of the European Union's construction, functioning, institutions, and policies
• Location: Geneva

Module II - Architecture of the United Nations System and Global Governance

• Description: Understanding the United Nations system, its main bodies, and organizations
• Location: Geneva

Module III - Key Skills for a National or International Career Dealing with Global Issues

• Description: Improving negotiation, public speaking, report writing, and other essential skills for a successful international career
• Location: Geneva

Module IV - Human Rights and Migration

• Description: Understanding European and international human rights protection, migration, and refugee issues
• Location: Geneva

Module V - Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Affairs

• Description: Examining the structure of the United Nations' work in tackling peace and security challenges
• Location: Geneva

Module VI - Digital Governance

• Description: Focus on how new digital technologies have changed public governance processes
• Location: Geneva

Module VII - International Trade and Development

• Description: Deep knowledge of the multilateral trade regime and its challenges
• Location: Geneva

Module VIII - Health and Environment

• Description: Exploring health and environment policies and their interrelation
• Location: Geneva

Module IX - Climate Change

• Description: Comprehensive knowledge on the challenges represented by climate change
• Location: Geneva

Module X - Sport Governance

• Description: Understanding the key challenges and dynamics shaping the field of sport in the global context

Module XI - Agenda 2030 and the Public-Private Partnership for its Implementation

• Description: In-depth understanding of Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the global partnership for their implementation
• Location: Geneva

Admission Criteria

• Academic Requirements: At least a Bachelors degree or a Masters degree from a University or a University of Applied Sciences
• Professional Experience: Relevant professional experience in the field of the Programme is taken into consideration
• Language Requirements: Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English, with recognized English proficiency tests (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge English Qualification)

Fees and Financial Support

• Fees: CHF 25,000 (net of bank charges)
• Financial Support: Available in the form of a ch鋂ue annuel de formation

Registration and Application

• Registration Deadline: 15 February 2026
• Application Sessions: Three sessions available for the full MEIG Programme
