Overview
The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Ecumenical Studies is a post-graduate program designed for theologians who wish to specialize in ecumenism through academic education and research. The program provides a comprehensive understanding of ecumenical studies, including theoretical elements, professional insights, and in-depth research opportunities.

- Provide a specialized post-graduate academic program for theologians seeking to deepen their knowledge in ecumenical studies.
- Offer an opportunity for academic reflection focusing on research within the context of professional experience, enabling a nuanced analysis of cutting-edge issues in ecumenical fellowship.
Audience
The program is intended for lay or ordained individuals who have completed a university Masters degree, preferably in Christian Theology or a closely related discipline, and are interested in studying ecumenism at a university level.

Core Course on the History of the Ecumenical Movement
- Description: Offers an overview of the genesis, development, and institutionalization of modern ecumenism, as well as an introduction to selected contemporary themes and challenges.
- Credits: 6 ECTS credits.
Workshop on Intercultural Biblical Studies
- Description: Provides an opportunity to deepen exegetical competencies and introduces the plurality of Biblical contextual interpretation paradigms.
- Credits: 3 ECTS credits.
Workshop on Practical Ecumenical Theology
- Description: Offers a reflected experience on the historical-cultural modes of theological transmission and their ecumenical dimensions.
- Credits: 3 ECTS credits.
Ecumenical Study Visits
- Description: Provides practical insights into the work of different ecumenical actors, particularly those of different Christian confessional traditions.
- Credits: 2 ECTS credits.
Seminar on Research Methodology
- Description: Deepens knowledge in research techniques, conventions, and methodologies, applying these to practical research work.
- Credits: 4 ECTS credits.
Interdisciplinary/Intercultural Course
- Description: Offers the opportunity to study selected topics pertaining to ecumenism in an interdisciplinary and intercultural manner.
- Credits: 4 ECTS credits.

Second Semester Research Fellowship
- Description: Offers a profiled insight into the practical work of an ecumenical organization or a specialized institution related to ecumenism.

Second Semester Research Workshop
- Description: Builds upon and deepens the study contents of the seminar on research methodology, addressing specific questions and challenges of the research process.
- Credits: 4 ECTS credits.
Second Semester Thesis
- Description: The thesis (10,000 words) is written in one of the academic disciplines offered at the Ecumenical Institute and must be submitted and successfully defended at the end of the study period.
- Credits: 14 ECTS credits.
