Introduction to the Program
The University of Geneva offers a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Management of Social Institutions. This program is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage social institutions effectively.
Program Objectives
The objectives of the CAS in Management of Social Institutions are to:
- Enable participants to analyze and understand the challenges faced by social institutions
- Provide participants with the tools and methods necessary to manage social institutions effectively
- Foster a community of practice among participants, where they can share experiences and learn from each other
Target Audience
The program is designed for individuals who occupy or aspire to occupy management positions in social institutions, such as:
- Directors of social services
- Managers of non-profit organizations
- Leaders of community-based initiatives
- Policy makers and administrators in the social sector
Program Structure
The program consists of 6 modules, each lasting 3 days, spread over two semesters. The modules are:
- Contextual Field: This module provides an overview of the social context in which institutions operate.
- Strategic Field: This module focuses on the strategic management of social institutions.
- Operational Field: This module covers the operational aspects of managing social institutions.
Module Details
- Module 3 - Financial Management: This module covers the fundamentals of financial management, including budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
- Module 5 - Social Policies and Financing: This module examines the relationships between economy, public finances, and social policies.
- Module 6 - Human Resource Management: This module focuses on the management of human resources in social institutions, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Module 7 - Evaluation of Social Policies and Actions: This module introduces participants to the principles and methods of evaluating social policies and programs.
- Module 9 - Strategy, Organization, and Change: This module explores the strategic management of social institutions, including organizational design, change management, and leadership.
- Module 10 - Project Management: This module provides participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage projects effectively.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, participants must:
- Hold a university degree or equivalent
- Have at least 3 years of professional experience in the social sector
- Demonstrate excellent spoken and written French language skills
- Submit a complete application dossier, including a curriculum vitae, letter of motivation, and copies of diplomas
Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for the entire program is CHF 7,700. Participants can also enroll in individual modules at a cost of CHF 1,800 per module.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the program, participants are awarded a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Management of Social Institutions.
