Program Overview

The University of Geneva offers a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Urban Planning and Spatial Development. This program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and implement urban planning projects.

Objectives

The objectives of the CAS in Urban Planning and Spatial Development are to:

• Apprehend the different competencies essential to the construction of an urban project
• Master the different stages of project construction
• Work in a project team and develop one's own project
• Combine theoretical approaches to planning with practical knowledge of actors
• Evaluate different urban projects and draw lessons for urban planning practice

Target Audience

The program is intended for professionals and individuals interested in acquiring methods and skills for urban planning project development.

Program Structure

The program consists of 15 ECTS credits and takes place over 15 Fridays. The language of instruction is French, and the program is held in Geneva.

Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

• Hold a master's or university degree, or a license corresponding to at least 4 years of successful study, or a title deemed equivalent
• Have at least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field Alternatively, applicants may hold a Master's degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HES) in the field of urban planning and territorial development, with at least 4 years of professional experience in a relevant field.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the program is CHF 6,000. Students may be eligible for financial support.

Application Procedure

The application procedure includes submitting a curriculum vitae, copies of diplomas and other supporting documents, a letter of motivation, and a photo ID.

Cancellation Policy

If a student withdraws from the program before it begins, they will be charged a fee of CHF 400 for administrative costs. Once the program has started, the full tuition fee is due.

The program is offered in partnership with the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Direction and Coordination

The program is directed by Prof. Laurent Matthey and Prof. Géraldine Pflieger, and coordinated by Dr. Marlčne Leroux.
