The University of Geneva offers a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Laboratory Medicine, a program designed to provide interdisciplinary skills for managing a medical laboratory.

Objectives
The program aims to:
- Discover the main medical aspects of laboratory medicine
- Acquire theoretical knowledge of the general principles of managing a medical analysis laboratory
- Familiarize with appropriate statistical methods in laboratory medicine
- Develop theoretical knowledge of pre- and post-analytical sample management and the organization of biobanks
Target Audience
The program is open to candidates who have completed their higher university studies (at the master's or doctoral level) in medicine, dental medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or equivalent fields in the life sciences, in Switzerland or with a foreign title deemed equivalent.

The program consists of 3 modules:
- Base Scientifique et Organisation de la M嶮ecine de Laboratoire (Scientific Basis and Organization of Laboratory Medicine)
- Proc嶮ures Diagnostiques (Diagnostic Procedures)
- Gestion du Laboratoire et Management (Laboratory Management and Management)
Module 1: Base Scientifique et Organisation de la M嶮ecine de Laboratoire
- Dates: September 8, 25, October 9, 27, November 10, 27, December 11, 2026
- Location: Geneva/Lausanne
- Description: Covers evidence-based laboratory medicine, laboratory informatics, pre- and post-analytical aspects, point-of-care testing, statistics in laboratory medicine, and support for clinical research.

Module 2: Proc嶮ures Diagnostiques

- Description: Covers tumor diseases, cardiovascular and renal diseases, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases, the contribution of medical analysis laboratories to emergency medicine, and neurological diseases.

Module 3: Gestion du Laboratoire et Management

- Description: Covers human resource management and leadership, project and change management, quality assurance and accreditation, hygiene and safety, and labor law and legal conditions.
