Program Overview


Master Program in Physics

The Master program in Physics offers a broad spectrum of courses and provides students with an in-depth education in specialized areas, such as particle physics, quantum matter physics, theoretical physics, applied physics, or cosmology. The curriculum and internships offer students the opportunity to work alongside prestigious institutions such as CERN, ESA, and NASA.


Study Programmes

Students must choose among the following study programmes:


  • Particle physics
  • Quantum Science and Information
  • Theoretical physics
  • Physics of Complex Systems
  • Cosmology and Astrophysics of Particles It is possible to initially choose more options and focus on one during the second year.

Study Programme Details

  • 4 semesters (max. 8 semesters)
  • 120 ECTS credits
  • Mandatory and optional courses, seminars, exercises: 60 credits
  • Master thesis: 60 credits

  • (28 February for applicants subject to a visa because of their nationality, as set forth in Swiss federal regulations)

Admission Conditions

  • A Bachelor in Physics, or an equivalent degree
  • Degrees obtained at a university that has signed the Bologna Agreements are automatically recognized by the University of Geneva
  • Otherwise, authorization by the Physics Section equivalency committee is required

Mobility
