Program Overview

Admission to Master's Program

Introduction

The University of Geneva offers a master's program to students who have completed their bachelor's degree. The admission process is outlined below.

Information and Registration

After a student has completed their bachelor's degree, the faculty, institute, or center verifies if the student has already registered for another program at the University of Geneva for the following semester.

  • If the student is already registered, they will receive their diploma and remain enrolled.
  • If the student is not registered, the system will automatically cancel their enrollment after 3 months, unless they register for another program.

Procedure for Admission to a Master's Program in the Same Faculty

If a student wishes to pursue a master's program in the same faculty, they must inform the faculty of their intention. The faculty will then assess the student's eligibility based on the relevant study branches.

  • If the decision is positive, the faculty will register the student in the database and send a confirmation email if requested.
  • If the decision is negative, the faculty will inform the student of the decision.

Procedure for Admission to a Master's Program in a Different Faculty

If a student wishes to pursue a master's program in a different faculty, they must submit a request for a change of faculty (and re-enrollment if necessary) through the University of Geneva's application portal.

  • The faculty will review the application and make a decision.
  • If the decision is positive, the student will receive an official admission decision via the application portal.
  • If the decision is negative, the student will receive a refusal via the application portal.

Responsibilities

The Immatriculations office is responsible for the admission process.

  • The Vérificateur/trice (Antonio Latella, Adjoint ŕ la direction pour la Vie étudiante) and the Approbateur/trice (Jasmine Champenois, Directrice de la DIFE) are responsible for verifying and approving the admission decisions.
