Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology
The Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology is an 18-month, internationally accredited programme that equips students for careers focused on the exercise rehabilitation of people living with chronic health conditions.

This postgraduate programme prepares students for a career as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Clinical Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals who design and deliver exercise for the prevention and management of chronic health problems such as musculoskeletal issues, diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
Programme Structure
The programme consists of three parts:
- Part 1: Theory (60 points: EXERSCI 719721, 724)
- Part 2: Practical Learning (90 points: EXERSCI 776778)
- Part 3: Research Methods (30 points: EXERSCI 722, 723 or 781A/B)
A blend of theory and clinical practicum courses is delivered sequentially across three terms, supporting the translation of acquired knowledge and skills to clinical practice. Active learning and teaching methods are used to foster the development of critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and independent learning.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Programme Requirements
- Study option: Taught 180 points
- Grade required: GPA 4.0 (or GPE 4 for international students)
- Qualification: IELTS Academic with a score of 6.5 (no bands less than 6.0)
Further Programme Requirements
- Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland with a GPA of 4.0 or higher and a major or specialisation in Exercise Science, or another relevant subject, or the equivalent prior study.
- For international students, an undergraduate degree in Exercise Sciences with a GPE of 4.0, or equivalent prior study.
