Programme Overview
The Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education Conjoint programme provides students with a well-rounded understanding of the economic and social elements that underlie the field of sport, health, and recreation. This programme develops skills in sport coaching, health promotion, and physical education, while advancing communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Programme Structure
This conjoint programme typically takes four years to complete and consists of 540 points:
- 255 points from courses listed in the BSportHPE Conjoint Schedule
- 255 points from courses listed in the BCom Conjoint Schedule (including at least one major)
- 15 points from a General Education course
- 15 points from courses available for any programme at the University
Students usually enroll in nine 15-point courses (135 points) each year to complete the programme in four years. A Grade Point Average of 3.5 must be maintained each year to continue with the conjoint.

Entry Requirements
New Zealand Secondary School Qualifications
To enter the programme, students must meet the University Entrance (UE) standard and achieve a guaranteed rank score. Specific subject requirements may also apply.
New Zealand Tertiary Qualifications
Students who have studied at a tertiary institution can transfer to this programme if they meet the minimum grade requirements and have not graduated with the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Education.
International Secondary School Qualifications
International students must have one of the following qualifications:
- International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level with a minimum of three A-Level subjects
- Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) with a minimum of three A-Level subjects
International Tertiary Qualifications
International students who have studied at a tertiary institution must have completed one year of successful bachelor-degree level study at a recognized university.
Fees and Scholarships
2026 Fees
- Domestic students: NZ$9,232.65
- International students: NZ$54,150
Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs.
