Programme Structure
The DMedSc programme typically takes three to four years to complete full-time or eight years part-time. The structure includes:
- Provisional enrolment upon entry
- Confirmation into the programme by the end of the first year, subject to meeting specific goals
- Continuation of research before submitting the thesis for examination, usually after three years and within four years of the start date
- The possibility of using original research completed before entry to the programme, provided it has not been submitted as part of a previous degree or diploma
Entry Requirements
Minimum Programme Requirements
- MBChB or equivalent
- Evidence of significant research experience
- English language proficiency: IELTS Academic with a score of 6.5, and no band less than 6.0
Further Programme Requirements
- Demonstration of the ability to research independently
- Possession of a high level of theoretical understanding
- Acceptance subject to staff availability for supervision and appropriate resources and facilities
- An initial statement of research intent to demonstrate research capability and experience
- At least five years of professional experience in medical practice

- International students: NZ$55,408.80*
