Program Overview
Master of Environmental Management
The Master of Environmental Management is a taught master's program that equips students with the specialist knowledge required to solve pressing environmental problems.
Programme Overview
The program is designed for graduates who have completed a relevant bachelor's degree and wish to build upon this with advanced studies in human and community engagement with environmental issues and/or the practice of environmental management. No prior study of environmental management is required. The core course considers alternative perspectives on environmental management and research methodologies as preparation for the 30-point research project.
Programme Structure
The MEnvMgt is an 18-month, 180-point program with the option of starting in Semester 1 or Semester 2, and completed over three semesters full-time, with part-time options available. Students must complete:
- 15 points: ENVMGT 701
- At least 60 points from ENVMGT 741-762
- A further 75 points from ENVMGT 741-762, ENVSCI 713, 738, or other approved 700-level courses
- 30 points: ENVMGT 791 Research Project

Entry Requirements
Minimum Programme Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic score of 6.5, with no bands less than 6.0
Further Programme Requirements
- Taught 180 points: GPA of 4.0 or higher in 60 points above Stage II
- Alternative pathways to study are available for those who do not meet the GPA requirement

- Domestic students: NZ$11,545.20
- International students: NZ$55,484
- Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs
