Pacific Academy Program

The Pacific Academy is a mentoring and tutoring program designed for Mori and Pacific students in senior secondary school. The program aims to strengthen students' academic journeys in Maths and Science while building confidence, community, and clarity about their future.


Program Overview

The Pacific Academy is open to students in Year 12 and Year 13 who are enrolled in NCEA Maths and Science externals. The program offers support in subjects such as Maths, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, and Biology.


Program Structure

The program includes ako sessions during school holidays to help students prepare for exams, alongside mentoring that helps students advocate for themselves and grow as learners. Sessions are guided by pre-prepared resources, and students receive a copy of key materials and notices every week.

The Pacific Academy offers a unique learning environment that combines tutoring with mentoring and guidance for students' future plans. The program is delivered by a diverse team of experienced teachers, pre-service teachers, university students, and alumni working in industry.


Locations and Schedule

Pacific Academy sessions are held at various locations, including:


  • Te Papa Ako o Tai Tonga (University of Auckland South Campus, Manukau)
  • St Peters College, Epsom
  • Avondale College, Avondale Sessions run regularly during Term 3 and intensify during school holiday ako sessions.
