Introduction to the Teaching in Society Module

The Teaching in Society module is designed to develop an understanding of teaching that extends beyond traditional classrooms to various spaces such as museums, galleries, libraries, virtual worlds, and the street. This module fosters a capacity to think critically about public pedagogy and its educative reach in society.


The Knowledge and Skills You Will Develop

Through this module, you will gain a critical understanding of teaching traditions, practices in diverse environments, and ideas about 'the child' and 'the teacher'. You will develop the ability to think like a teacher in the broadest sense and engage critically with ideas about education in society.


Career Utility of the Module

The skills and knowledge acquired from this module will be valuable in a range of careers, including education, arts, community and charitable organizations, institutional management, mentoring, health, and social work. You will engage with diverse and expansive ways of thinking about the place of education in society, including educational practices, philosophies, and approaches.

To complete this module, you must take three courses (45 points), including one course at each stage. Each course is worth 15 points.

Before enrolling in a Stage II course, you need to have passed the prerequisite courses for that stage.
