Law Honours Programme (LLB(Hons)) Entry Requirements

The Law Honours Programme (LLB(Hons)) is a prestigious program that welcomes applications throughout the year. To be considered for selection, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria.

LLB(Hons) Eligibility

To be eligible for the LLB(Hons) program, applicants must have:

• Completed all LLB Part I and II courses
• Achieved a minimum weighted Law GPA (LawHons GPA) of 6.00

Transfer students are only eligible to apply for LLB(Hons) upon completion of specific courses, including LAW 141 with a minimum grade requirement of C+, LAW 298 alongside LLB Part II courses, and any outstanding non-law courses.

Delayed Admission into LLB(Hons)

Students who do not accept their offer of place or are not admitted into LLB(Hons) after completing their LLB Part II courses can reapply for LLB(Hons) if they subsequently meet the minimum LawHons GPA of 6.00. However, they must have remaining LLB Part IV requirements to complete in Semester Two in the year they are admitted to be eligible for LLB(Hons).

Entry Requirements

Students with a LawHons GPA of 6.00 (B+) and above are eligible to apply and be admitted into the LLB(Hons) program. Entry requirements may change each year.

LawHons GPA Calculation

The LawHons GPA is calculated using the points value of the course and the grade achieved. All completed law courses (LLB Part I-IV) are factored into the calculation, including any courses given special permission to be counted as a law elective. Failed grades and non-law courses are disregarded, except in specific circumstances.

Applying for Admission

When applying, students must choose the correct program and specialization. The application process involves selecting the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) program, with Law as the major or specialization. Students must submit their online application for LLB(Hons) no later than 1 December of the year prior to which they are applying.
