Program Overview

Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in Pharmacology

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in Pharmacology is a comprehensive program that consists of a number of courses worth 15 points each, totaling 360 points.

Program Structure

To complete the program, students must take the following courses:

• BIOSCI 107 Biology for Biomedical Science: Cellular Processes
• MEDSCI 142 Biology for Biomedical Science: Organ Systems
• CHEM 110 Chemistry of the Living World
  • These courses provide a foundation in biology, chemistry, and biomedical science.
• 30 points from:
  • BIOSCI 203 Biochemistry
  • MEDSCI 203 Mechanisms of Disease
  • MEDSCI 205 The Physiology of Human Organ Systems
  • These courses offer a deeper understanding of biochemistry, disease mechanisms, and human physiology.
• 15 points:
  • MEDSCI 204 Pharmacology and Toxicology
  • This course introduces students to the principles of pharmacology and toxicology.
• 30 points:
  • MEDSCI 318 Pharmacokinetics and Drug Toxicity
  • MEDSCI 319 Molecular Pharmacology
  • These courses cover the pharmacokinetics of drugs, their toxicity, and molecular pharmacology.
• 15 points from:
  • MEDSCI 320 Pharmacology of the Brain and Body
  • PHARMCOL 399 Capstone: Integrated Pharmacology
  • Note: Both MEDSCI 320 and PHARMCOL 399 are required if Pharmacology is the sole major.

Capstone Course

The capstone course, PHARMCOL 399, is a student-led project where students integrate and apply their learning to a real-world problem in pharmacology.

Double Major

Students can also pursue a double major in their BSc, and it is recommended to complement Pharmacology with subjects like Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, Psychology, and Statistics.
