2023 Global Internships with Prime Minister's Scholarships for Asia
The 2023 Global Internships with Prime Minister's Scholarships for Asia offer University of Auckland students the opportunity to gain real-life work experience in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, or Mumbai.
Programme Overview
The programme is funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao. It provides students with the chance to travel to one of the three cities for an internship, with funding valued at $10,000+ per student. The programme includes flights, accommodation, programme fees, living allowance, visa, and travel insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Prime Minister's Scholarships, students must:
- Be enrolled to study at the University of Auckland in 2022
- Be at least 18 years old at the date of applying
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Have been a resident in New Zealand for at least 12 of the previous 24 months
- Not be an immediate relative of an Education New Zealand staff member or selection panel member
- Be medically fit to travel
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Be able to attend the full duration of the proposed programme overseas and all scheduled pre-departure activities
- Be eligible for an entry visa into the host country
- Not have previously received a Prime Ministers Scholarship of the same type
Internship Locations
The programme offers internships in three cities:
- Bangkok, Thailand: An 8-week internship programme in partnership with NEXSTEP, from 31 December to 25 February 2023.
- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: A 7-week internship programme in partnership with CRCC Asia, from 5 January to 25 February 2023.
- Mumbai, India: A 6-week internship programme in partnership with Global Career Center, from 15 January to 25 February 2023.
Programme Details
The programme funding includes:
- Flights
- Programme/course fee
- Internship brokerage fee
- Living and accommodation allowance
- Visa
- Travel insurance Students will be asked to contribute $500 towards the cost of the programme upon receiving an offer of place.
Application Process
Students must login or create an account in the University of Auckland's Learning Abroad portal to submit an application. Each programme will link through to the same PMSA application form, where students will be asked to list each location in order of preference.
