LENScience Connect Programme
The LENScience Connect programme is a university programme that allows schools to receive broadcasts via television or live stream.
Programme Requirements
To receive the programme, schools require a television set, set top box, and satellite dish. The set top box must not be Freeview branded, as it needs to be able to perform a manual search to find the channel.
Technology Information
For schools receiving the broadcast via satellite TV connection, a technology information sheet is available. The sheet provides details on the equipment required and the setup process.
Suggested Suppliers
The following suppliers have been used by schools to set up the satellite dish and set top box:
- JX Satellite and Communications (Upper North Island through to Taupo)
- Local Sky or Freeview installation companies

Tuning into the Broadcast Test Signal
To tune into the broadcast test signal, follow these steps:
- Command the satellite receiver to do an "autoscan" or "blind scan" for Free To Air (FTA) channels only.
- Identify the wanted programme from the resulting pool of channels.

Tuning Procedures for Specific Receivers
Tuning procedures are available for the following receivers:
- Hills receiver
- Topfield TF6000Fe
National Education Network
Schools with a connection to the National Education Network can receive the broadcast via live stream. The University of Auckland streams the media live over the internet for schools to view the seminar online.
Instructions for Live Stream
The links for the live stream will be sent out to registered schools on the day of the broadcast. The stream will go offline after the seminar and will not be repeated on a loop. The seminar will be posted to the Wiki as soon as possible to be streamed again or downloaded.
