Program Overview

LENScience Connect Programme

The LENScience Connect programme is a university programme that allows schools to receive broadcasts via television or live stream.

Programme Requirements

To receive the programme, schools require a television set, set top box, and satellite dish. The set top box must not be Freeview branded, as it needs to be able to perform a manual search to find the channel.

Technology Information

For schools receiving the broadcast via satellite TV connection, a technology information sheet is available. The sheet provides details on the equipment required and the setup process.

Suggested Suppliers

The following suppliers have been used by schools to set up the satellite dish and set top box:

  • JX Satellite and Communications (Upper North Island through to Taupo)
  • Local Sky or Freeview installation companies

Technology Discussion and Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions relating to technology will be posted as they come in. Any points of discussion between the technology team and teachers, or amongst teachers, about the technology used can be found in this section.
