Clinical Exercise Physiology Practicum
The University of Aucklands Clinical Exercise Physiology programme is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). This internationally recognised accreditation means that our academic programme and practical learning experiences meet the requirements of professional organisations around the world, including the American College of Sports Medicine, the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, and Exercise & Sports Science Australia.
Programme Information
The programme provides practical learning experience in Clinical Exercise Physiology that meets requirements for registration with professional organisations in the student's home country. Students will enrol in a 200-hour clinical practicum, as well as two academic courses to meet both theoretical and practical requirements for their degree and professional registration. Practicum hours will take place at the Health and Rehabilitation Clinic, where students will deliver exercise rehabilitation services to clinical populations, especially individuals who have cardiac, musculoskeletal, neurological, pulmonary, immunological, neoplastic, mood, and metabolic disorders, as well as post-surgical cases.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this programme, students must:
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in exercise science, exercise physiology, clinical exercise physiology, or similar
- Have completed a minimum of two years of full-time study
- Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent
- Meet the English language requirements
Course Enrolment
Students may enrol in one or both semesters, and can enter the programme in either semester. In addition to the practicum, students will enrol in other EXERSCI courses.
