Program Overview

Neuroscience Program

The Neuroscience program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the brain and related structures in health and disease. This field of study is considered the final frontier, and students on this pathway will explore the developmental origins of the nervous system, its structure and function, and the causes of neurological diseases.

Structuring the Pathway

To complete the Neuroscience pathway, students must take the Biomedical Science capstone course, BIOMED 399, in addition to the compulsory courses listed in the plan schedule. The Curriculum Catalogue provides detailed information on the schedule, including compulsory and elective courses. Students can use degree planners to help plan their courses, and the most up-to-date Biomedical Science (Neuroscience pathway) degree planner can be found on the Science degree planners page.

Enrolling in the Pathway

After the first year, students can choose to specialize in the Neuroscience pathway by using the Choose your pathway form. Alternatively, they can keep their Biomedical Science specialization general or choose a different pathway.

Other Biomedical Science Pathways

The University offers several other Biomedical Science pathways, including:

  • Anatomical Imaging Science
  • Cancer Biology and Therapeutics
  • Cardiovascular Biology
  • Cellular and Molecular Biomedicine
  • Genetics
  • Infection and Immunity
  • Nutrition and Metabolism
  • Reproduction and Development
